Italia Maria Gilberti

Italia Maria Gilberti was born in Montreal, Quebec, and raised in Niagara Falls, Ontario. She received her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French from McMaster University in 1987. She attended law school at L'Ecole de Droit, L'Universite de Moncton, where she studied common law in French. She has been a Member of the Law Society of Upper Canada since 1992 when she received her call to the Bar.

Italia is fluent in Italian and French. She is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Welland County Bar Association and Niagara Falls Bar Association where she also served a term as Secretary-Treasurer.

Her practice includes finance, corporate and commercial law, commercial and residential real estate, municipal law, land development, wills and estates. Italia has been instrumental in obtaining approvals for many of the high-rise hotels and other tourist commercial related establishments recently built or currently under construction in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Italia has served as Director of the Greater Niagara General Hospital Foundation and Director of the Regional Niagara Health Board Council. Italia has also served as a Director of Club Italia, Order of Sons of Italy and has been a member since 1990. She was also a member of the highly successful fund-raising team for the Niagara Falls Community Centre. Current achievements include a second appointment to the Niagara Parks Commission.
